Tyrant king

In Tyrannosaurus rex theropod adaptations reached extreme development. Long, heavy legs, powerful jaws and huge claws suggest it was capable of killing almost any prey. But, like most modern carnivores, it probably hurried only when it had to and scavenged whenever it could.

This is one carnivore that's extremely unusual! Unlike
most theropods, Alxasurus had small bullet-shaped teeth,
long, powerful arms and a short tail. Some features, like
its teeth, were similar to some herbivores - yet its dagger-like claws are unmistakably theropod.

bird mimic This superbly preserced specimen is an orithomimd dinosaur in classic theropod death pose. contracting ligaments pulled the neck and tail into a dramatic curve. Ostrich mimce were light and agile, with long, three-fingered forelimbs. Faint impressions of the beak canbe seen between the tips of the jaw.

Black beauty

For many years tyrannosaurus rex was. the largest carnivore known. the discovery of an incomplete giganotosaurus in Argentina may have left T. rex in second place, but T.rex was probably faster amd more agile.

Asian predator

Healed bite marks on its jaws indicate this theropod may have been competing for food or territory with another meat-eater.
Which dinosaure were its rivals? The answer is yet to be uncovered.

jurassic overlord

The largest land carnivote of the jurassic period. Allosaurus had jaws that opened widely, allowing the large upper teeth to slash prey. It probably hunted sauropods and plated stegosaurs. One Allosaurs peivis shows a puncture wound.prehaps from the tail spike of a stegosaur.

Tyrannosaurus

The largest carivore ever to walk Alberta, the tyrant lizard reacher
lengths of more than 12 metres and weighed in at more than 6.5
tonnes. Powerful hind legs. teeth bigger than bananas, and a hinged
jaw that enabled it to swallow large chunks of meat made it a formidable predator.

Camarasaurus, up to 18 meters long, was one of the more
common sauropods of western north america. Many young specimens, dead before they reached adulthood, have been discovered.

Chasmosaurus

This ceratopsian had a single horn on its snout and two smaller
horns above its eyes. Although rival males may have battled over
mates, they probably also scared off potenial opponents by
dropping their heads to display the large frill.

Parasarolophus

One of the rarest duckbills, Parasaurolophus also possessed
the most distinctive crest. hasal passages extended through the crests of many duckbill dinosaurs. They may have functioned
as resonatiog chambers, producing honks and bellows distinctive
to each species.

Lambeosaurus

Namefor lwrence lambe, one of the early fossil hunters in the red deer river valley, Lambeosaurus had a distinctive crest. The hollow cavity in side the crest may may have been used to produce sounds and the young may have identified their parents by the distinctive crest.

Ornithomimus

Ornithomimids, or &quotbird mimic" dinosaurs, were toothless relatives of carnivores such as Albertosaurus and dromaeosaurus. The were quick, agile animals and the proportions of their hind legs suggest they may have been able to run almost as fast as a horse. Ornithomimus is one of three &quotbird mimic" dinosaurs known from Alberta.

Brontottheres

Mating combats probably occurred among ancient mammals,
just as they do among bighorn sheep and dison today.
Here, two male orontotheres are shown in combat, using their large horns as weapons.
Damaged ribs found on some specimens are likely the result of such combats.

Mammoth Steppe

Glacial ice and meltwater shaped the landscape and affected the climate. A patchwork of grassland, parkland and other habitats developed,Known as the Mammoth Steppe. Resembling a cold version of Africa.s savanna, the steppe environment allowed mammoths and other herbivores to flourish.
